KL Trip

Went to attend an ICT award in KL on the 15th. The boss is generous enough to settle/ reward us in a 5-star apartment suite as well as the gala dinner which cost RM400 per person.

The trip was overall fun with a great company around.

A Memorable Trip

We went on a short vacation to Genting and KL after almost a year since we last had a proper break.

Planned to spend the first and second day in Genting. Since the hotel check in time is only at 3pm, so we decided to have a "BUS tour" around KL.


It's been almost 9 years since I left KL, bet how much I miss the busy life there.

We randomly picked a bus which we saw in KL Sentral. Asked the bus driver to put us down at the last stop, Taman Maluri. Along the way, we passed by the route which I used to travel every day during my secondary school days (Jalan Pudu and Jalan Pasar). MY..! How much this place has changed ever since I left KL. Even the old cinema (once was the landmark in Pudu has also been torn down). So we got down at Taman Maluri and took another bus to Pasar Seni. And there we again picked another bus all the way to Sg. Long.

This was the most memorable route as I managed to have a quick glance at my old neighbourhood, Jalan Chan Saw Lin, and amazed at how much it has changed. I hardly recognized the place where I'd been staying for the past 17 years until I've passed by the signboard. The journey went on, leading to my old primary school, SRJK (C) Tai Thung. The same thing happened, I couldn't believe my eyes that this is my formal school. Everything looks so new to me. The big basketball court had make way for the new high way indeed.





Well， the whole journey to Sg. Long took us almost 1 hour+. It was kind of a torturement for our butts :D Sitting on a plastic chairs. Once reached Sg. Long, we took another bus to Puduraya. There goes the story "my life as a butt" when HE started to imagine himself as his butt and communicating with his closest childhood friend, Mr. Annal.

So finally we reached Puduraya on time leading us to Genting!




The weather's superbly cool up there. Checked in to the hotel. He then popped the major question which brought my life to another new phase. "Are you hungry?????" haahhaahaa, just joking. I'm still so shy to share about it.

Well, he kneed down and proposed to me with this baby. (11 carat / 100 diamond ring) :D. From that moment onwards, I only comprehended the meaning - "Tears of Joy". The whole agenda was accompanied by both our new and old theme songs, "Thankful for meeting you" and "Everyday I love you".



There ends the 'sad' story.

There, for the first time we patronized a casino. The experience was enthusiastic! People were gambling with big bucks, and we cooly threw out RM30 to play jackpot. It was like the Chinese proverb which goes "a cow going out to the town" （阿牛出城）. We didn't even know how the game goes, and that we actually were allowed to claim the unused/ won $$ back with a member card. A reasonable price to get such experience.







Most of the time was spent in first world as we'd already visited the outdoor theme park last year. To kill some of our time, we went to the 4D motion master. Enjoyable cum funny experience especially when the white kid beside was making a commotion when he missed the seat handles in the middle of the show. Such a cute action, haha.



How nice if time could be freezed, 2 days doesn't seem to be enough in such a great place with great weather (average 16 Celsius).

Time to say goodbye. We then proceeded to the Genting Skyway, going back to KL.



Thought of being like some backpackers, haahaa. Finding for some kind of cheap hotel in Bukit Bintang. But the blazing hot sun failed us. We finally ended up in Melia Hotel. That means, we were only backpacking from Berjaya Timesquare to Melia Hotel which is just right opposite, what a failure I can say..



After some rest (watched half of the ending part of 'Con Air' and the beginning part of '13 going on 30'), we started our journey again. Took bus to Puduraya, and we walked to Petaling Street. It was also my first time of visiting there even though I'd been staying there for so many years.

Spent 2hours of walking and having our dinner there, we then walked back by following Berjaya Times Square building. On the way back, we dropped by Lowyat Plaze to have a stroll before heading to Sg. Wang Plaza where a moon cake festival concert was going on. The place was packed with homosapiens, didn't wish to linger any longer there even though Manhand my newly found potential-idol was performing.


So we off to the hotel after a tiring long day.


It was indeed a bad decision as when the clock stroke 10pm there was a fireworks performance, what a waste! That was the second time when we actually witness fireworks show together from a hotel window.






We spent our final day in Berjaya Times Square. Watched a quite boring movie "Accident" as I'm too old for horror movies. After the movie, we went window-shopping until ended up in Borders. Had an eye on these books, but nevermind, I'll wait until they get cheaper in their softcovers sometime later.



Anyway, I was still able to get myself 2 books, the ones I've always wanted to buy since a year back.

Finally we hung out in Starbucks for 2 to 3 hours with the opened books and straying eyes. :D

That brought an end to the 4days 3 nights trip in Genting and KL and most importantly my bachelor life.!

28th March 2009 (Earth Hour)

Earth Hour has just passed. Hope everyone enjoyed the short but meaningful moment. Was quite touched that not only students but most of the residents around here were aware and showed their care towards this event. Everywhere was dark during this hour except for street lights which shined dimly.

For those who have participated in this event, give yourself a pat on the shoulder.

Human has developed in such a pace that we have began to neglect the natural beauty which was created by God. True enough technology has made our life much easier and comfortable, but at the same time we are paying a hefty price by causing global warming.

Global Warming

Have you noticed that there are heavier downpour and snowfalls as well as the earlier arrival of Spring? These climate change is the obvious affect of global warming.



Wonder how we can contribute to counter global warming except by minimizing the usage of CFC based products? You can play a part in this coming 28th of March 2009 by turning off the lights for Earth hour to cast your vote for action on climate change.

Earth Hour

The main purpose of WWF's Earth Hour is to send a clear message to leaders all over the World that they need to act on climate change.

For your information, Earth Hour is an annual event held on the last Saturday on March each year. In order to show our support, we are advised to turn off our non-essential lights and electrical appliances for 1 hour starting from 8.30pm to 9.30pm on this coming Saturday (28th March).

Currently, 1760 cities and towns across 80 countries have committed to this event. This will be a historical event to witness the extinguishment of lights in the iconic landmarks and skylines all over the World.

Taken from Earth Hour Web site, there are 10 activities for us to spend during the Earth Hour and reduce our carbon footprint:

1. Attend a local Earth Hour event or organise your own by throwing an Earth Hour street party with your neighbours

3. Enjoy a family dinner by candlelight
4. Organise a treasure hunt in the dark
5. Take the dog for a night walk
6. Have a candle-lit bath
7. Sit in the dark and share stories
8. Organise a family night playing board games
9. Share a romantic night in with your loved one
10. Upload your ‘on the night’ photos and videos to flickr and YouTube respectively, and then add them to the Earth Hour flickr group and the global YouTube Group.

Maybe that is the time when we can truly enjoy our surrounding which brings us closer to the nature.

Viva Presentation

Finally I've passed my viva presentation with minor corrections. It's really a HUGE relief for me after living in trepidation for weeks.

I received the notification letter on the 5th February mentioning that my viva date was set on the 18th February. Had mix feeling. On one hand praying that the day will never come, hoping that the flight taken by the external examiner was delayed indefinitely; on the other hand wishing to end the misery asap. The experience is unforgettable, NEVER each day passed through without me worrying about the viva. Some would say it's living hell, the feeling is just like a death row prisoner waiting for the death sentence.


I'm not exaggerating, but this is the cold hard fact where I've the first hand experience. It's simply a moment of 'live' and 'death', at which you are just standing in between a thin line that separate between success and failure. Take one step in front, you are awarded with an honorable degree, take one step behind, you have to back to square one. In short, this is the moment of affirmation for all the hard works you have done for the past 2 years.

Was trembling throughout the viva presentation, but luckily all the examiners were kind enough to me. None of the questions were too tricky to answer, but there was a particular question which left me in a lure. It's like a tug of war as the external examiner was trying hard to define his question, but I wonder did I really answer the question which is in his mind. Eventhough there's flaw in the presentation, but I've managed to pull through. Thank GOD for that. The whole session lasted for an hour (from 10.15am to 11.15am). Once they announced the result, I felt my body lost a tonne, I was drifting in the air breezing through cloud 9, the join was simply inexpressible by mere words.


Finally, it officially ended a very long journey of my master degree with a beautiful full stop.

Chinese New Year

Hi guys, 2 more days to officially end this Chinese New Year celebration. After a "long" break during this CNY, now it's time for us to start blogging again..

Had a great holidays to spend some quality time with family considering the fact that most of our time are not spent at our hometowns. It's been 6 years staying in Kuala Terengganu. Never dreamed that we'd be staying here for such a long time in such a place where you can hardly find any sort of entertainments. It will normally be a dead town when the clock strikes 10. Kind of spooky at times..

Digress. Back to the CNY celebration.

Love the feeling of reuniting with all the family members when it's so hard to make it after the children have started studying or working in other states. It may be nothing for those who are lucky enough to have home-cooked dishes everyday, but for me, I truly appreciate every single time with my loved ones. Packing house, decorating garden, preparing dishes were somehow enjoying when you know you're not doing it alone. I used to ABHOR household duties, especially when it is 'commanded' by mum. Would start cursing and drag the heavy ass up to work with hatred. This bad attitute was carried for years until I moved out from the house. Realized that no one has the responsibility to look after oneself especially when it comes to houseworks. This is where initiative and awareness of obligations take place. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is, I'm growing unwittingly, though it's slower as compared to others in my age group I'm happy with it.

As usual, this CNY was enriched by LED decorative lights, fireworks, firecrackers, and lion dance.


The extra activity we did this year was movie watching. Watched 3 movies during the CNY (2 were with the family).

The story line was ok, kind of violent and bloody in some scenes though.

2009 Chinese Zodiac Forecast

The 12 Chinese Zodiacs
The 12 animal zodiacs were initially introduced by the Chinese. Some scholars believe that the source of these zodiacs came from the adoration of human towards animals. For instance, the reliance on horse, goat, cow, and dog or the fear on tiger and snake.

However, as come to the origin of the 12 animal zodiacs, it has to link to the Heavenly Stems “tian gan” （天干）and Earthly Branches “di zhi” (地支). Heavenly Stems are the elements of an ancient Chinese cyclic character numeral system, while Earthly Branches are used for reckoning time at which the Chinese astronomers divided the celestial circle into 12 sections to follow the orbit of Jupiter or known as “Year Star” （岁星）. According to the historical records, it was found that the 12 animal zodiacs are correspond to the 12 Earthly Branches, that is, the sign of Zodiac is assigned based on one’s date of birth.
