KL Trip

Went to attend an ICT award in KL on the 15th. The boss is generous enough to settle/ reward us in a 5-star apartment suite as well as the gala dinner which cost RM400 per person.

The trip was overall fun with a great company around.

Buddha Jumps Over the Wall

Hi guys, this post was supposed to be done during the CNY, but it's better to be late than never, right?

Came across an article in Star Newspaper that wrote about a soup called "Buddha Jumps Over the Wall" (佛跳墙).



This soup costs a fortune as it is touted to be the world's most expensive soup. According to the article, each bowl costs £108 (RM606). Let's break down this price in one's meal. In Malaysia, normally a pack of chicken rice costs RM3.00



and with RM606 you can actually get two hundred and two (202) packs! Assume that you have chicken rice for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, you will have to take 67 BLOODY days to finish all THESE.




I can imagine what you will do when you see another plate of chicken rice on the 68th day.


Sorry, i just can't hold back my imagination.

Ok, enough with the joke (if you think it's one :D). Now, let's see what makes this soup so expensive and yet there are still demands from people all over the world.

Originally, there are a total of 18 luxurious main ingredients. Some of it are Shark fin, Abalone, Sea cucumber, Scallops, Shark's lips, Fish maw, Clam, Ham etc. and 12 additional ingredients.


It's said that, this soup needs at least 2 days to stew. All the ingredients are put into a clay jar and cooked with intense heat followed by low heat.

According to folks' tale, the soup is so tempting and even a vegetarian monk will sneak out of the monastery (jump over the wall) to steal a taste.

Since it's highly recommended with its superb taste and ingredients, it wouldn't hurt to have a try. But whether to spend the 2 months food expenditure on a bowl of soup is another question.

As we all know that food is an essential part of our life and as time goes by, the standard of this very basic necessity improved as well. Here, I would like to share with you guys a meal offered by "The Chicken Rice Shop". It's the Chinese New Year (CNY) promotion meal. Check this out...


We had this sometime in the beginning of February. Well since it was still CNY so we tried the promotion meal for two. I've to congratulate "The Chicken Rice Shop" for having such auspicious names for their dishes. We had Fortune Phoenix Chicken which was chicken drumstick in tomato sos, longevity soup which was "Bak Kut Teh" where they replace the pork with chicken and some other great dishes. Wait I need not say more, we just let the pictures do the talking ok.

Clockwise : Green baby Pak Choy (Siu Pak Choy)in Oyster Sos, Kerabu manggo, Sunwhite chicken rice, Pai tee, Asam fish and in the center : longevity soup.

Of all the dishes, I particularly love the "Fortune Phoenix Chicken". The juicy chicken can really melt in your mouth.

Why is it that I suddenly have the urge to sink my teeth into this succulent piece of meat. Haih... I guess the next trip to "The Chicken Rice Shop" will be very near Haha. For your information "The Chicken Rice Shop" in Kuala Terengganu is located in Giant Hypermarket Kuala Terengganu. You really don't know what you are missing here if you have never tried this... Well enjoy reading this.

New Year Eve Lunch

Planned to indulge ourselves with good dinner in conjunction of New Year eve despite the fact that there isn't any fine dining restaurants in Kuala Terengganu. However, due to some unfinished business, our dinner plan was brought forward to lunch.

So, we went to one of the well known fast food's outlet (it is indeed a luxurious meal for the penniless students like us). We ordered 2 sets of chicken chops, mushroom soup, and Coleslaw.

The chicken chop was tasty and juicy especially when it's coated with Cajun Brown Sauce.

The 1st thing we did was to shift table.. Although the food was great but this really spoiled our mood.

Need I say more?
