Got my Windows 7 upgrade kit finally. Took me nearly 4 hours to finish the whole upgrading process. The installing part freeze during the end of the process thus forcing me to start the whole step (which requires at least 1.5hours) all over again.
Was anxious about Windows 7 features since it was eulogized by practically everyone I know and the articles I read.
Still in the phase of exploring. And these are some new features I found to be quite interesting.
1. Desktop
Windows 7 interface with new toolbar arrangement. New shortcut icon (Libraries which stores particularly Music, Pictures, Documents and Videos). And am not sure whether it is a new feature belongs to Windows Media Player or Windows 7 that when the cursor isn't pointing at the player, the interface will just fade off (as in the center of the desktop).
2. Gadgets
You can drag anything in the gadgets out to your desktop (Eg: Clock, Calendar, CPU meter which is to monitor your CPU and RAM usage etc.)
3. Start menu
New start menu consists of 2 columns. The difference is, the left-hand-side list will jump to the "All Programs" list when you place your cursor on it.
4. Desktop background
If you are bored with the same old desktop pictures, you can easily change the background picture by right clicking it and change it to next desktop background. Or to make it even simpler, you can actually slide-show your desktop background. That means the desktop background will automatically change to your desired interval settings.
5. Paint
Alot more new functions as compared to the 'plain paint' before.
6. Taskbar
Thumbnail preview. Window changes accordingly to the thumbnail's cursor position.
7. Aeroshake
I personally found it to be the most interesting feature.
Too cluttered with the opened windows? Simply click on a window's toolbar and shake it. Then the other windows (except for the shaken one) will be minimized.
Shake it again, and the minimized windows will be restored.
8. Snap
As can be seen, when dragging a window to the left (as shown), Windows 7 will automatically make it into half of the screen (as illustrated in the transparent layout behind the actual window).
That's all the new features I could find so far. Hope Windows 7 isn't a disappointment afterall.
